i heard of a person, an american man
who perjured himself like anyone can
and he said to himself i'm oh so shameful
and then the worst of it was that he didn't respond
for he'd broken his word and his word is his bond
and he thought to himself i'm oh so shameful
and i heard from a friend that he once played bar
and that no one had come to hear his guitar
just two girls, two girls at a table
and both of them smiled and clapped through his set
and when at the end he learned they were deaf
he said to himself, i'm oh so shameful
and we're the same he and me, we serve the same lord
the trinity: melody, lyric and chord
and we all do our best, the best we're able
and when you screw up, like all of us can
humble yourself, you're just an american man
you're doing your best, the best you're able
and when you screw up, like all of us can
humble yourself, you're just an american man
you're doing your best, the best you're able

What is your song idea?
I feel terrible that I didn't write that song you sent me. And I feel even worse that I didn't respond to your email about it (like a year ago...). I'm sorry about that. I feel like all I do is email people all day long, and yet I'm still horrible at technology-based correspondence. Why am I not getting better at it?
describe your song in one word
