my sleeve tattoo
my girlfriend she shows her ink
she don't care what others think
she don't care, she wears a sleeve tattoo
my boyfriend he looks so mean
but his heart is on his sleeve
he wears his heart on his sleeve tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
the girls they spike and dye their hair
the boys they dress so debonair
we don't care we wear our sleeve tattoos
and when you give me the deuce
i know my heart won't be removed
i see it there its on your sleeve tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, my sleeve, tattoo
What is your song idea?
Similar to Peter, Bjorn & John's "YOUNG FOLKS", it's a catchy whistling tune with a solid drum beat. It is to introduce a character in a short film. We've been using "YOUNG FOLKS" as a temp track, but are looking for something we can have permission for. It would be featured in a short film that would make it to festivals starting in 2011. Indie-rock sound with a head-bopping beat that will gear audiences!

Kuma's
words and lyrics by Scrand
kumas is a metal bar
in chicago
and kumas is the best metal bar in the world
and kumas has the hottest girls
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh
the best metal hamburgers
the best best burger in the world
kumas is the best bar the best metal bar in chicago in the world
and its the best metal bar in the world
kuma's dayenu
What is your song idea?
I made the unbrutal but necessary move out of Chicago almost a year ago. There's lots of things I miss--awful public transit, politeness--but the one thing that has no equal is the greatest metal bar on the planet, Kuma's Corner (2900 W Belmont).
Good bars do one thing well, and bad bars just serve alcohol. On any characteristic, Kuma's destroys other bars. Your favorite bar has a nice jukebox? Kuma's plays ear-splitting death metal from open to close. Your bar has hot waitresses? Kuma's waitresses are hotter, and will beat yours in a knife fight. Your bar serves food? Kuma's has the best burgers, universally acknowledge by god and man.
Any one of these things would be enough, but the fact that Kuma's does all of these better than any other bar proves that there is a god, and he's a metal god. Maybe Cthulhu or Odin.
Can you write me a song that's a tribute to Kuma's? The word 'dayenu' should be in the chorus. It can be straight description or a narrative (possibly about the waitresses or the customers). Or you can just steal lyrics off the menu. Actually, steal a lot of lyrics from the website, because it's chock full of their philosophies. (e.g. "death to miller and budweiser", "die, emo, die", etc.)
The style should be metal, obviously. True norwegian black optional.

The Mystery Kids
Student 1: Hey Roommate, I just had an idea for a TV show.
Student 2: Tell me more.
Who spiked the punch at the sorority
Who switched the marxists with the borgouisie
Who swiped the tenure from our faculty
Two kids can help us solve the mystery
When there's a mystery
When there's a mystery
When there's a mystery
We call the mystery kids
Student 2: That sounds great, but who's going to write it
Student 1: We will!
Student 2: Can we do that?
Student 1: Sure we can!
We'll pitch the script to folks at A&E
I'll call my mom to say I'm on TV
When there's a mystery
When there's a mystery
When there's a mystery
We call the mystery...
Hey mom i'm on TV
We call the mystery kids

The Brink
words and lyrics by Rachelintrees
sometimes it's harder than we think
to stay afloat and not to sink
sometimes the whole world seems on the brink
you'll always be
part of our family
Letting go can make you blind
those who have left and those left behind
but we've got to change some things to survive
you'll always be
part of our family
our life has lows and times that try
our spirits grow and then they die
when everything you've done seems to dematerialize
you'll always be
part of our family
sometimes it's harder than we think
to stay afloat and not to sink
sometimes the whole world seems on the brink
What is your song idea?
Layoffs... they really hurt. Everyone is unhappy that we have to say goodbye, both those who are leaving and those who are left behind.
...we have to make these changes in order to survive.
Thank you for your talent and energy and friendship and all the years of hard work.
You will always be part of our family.

My Onetime Friend
you might come with me, i'm never far
or we might never speak again
but either way, i'm happy you are
my onetime friend
but let me say that to me it felt right
when we both rode the SkyTrain tonight
and found the fine line between love and like
my onetime friend
or sometimes friend
my onetime friend
or sometimes friend
when you speak to me, you chill my bones
and i can barely move
but if you want, i'll leave you alone
i've got other stuff to do
and i'll just say that to me it felt right
when we both rode the SkyTrain that night
it was the fine line between love and like
my onetime friend
or sometimes friend
my onetime friend
or sometimes friend
and i'll just say that to me it felt right
when we both rode the SkyTrain that night
it was the fine line between love and like
What is your song idea?
I wrote some lyrics and I was wondering if you could put a melody to it. I was really feeling a happy and upbeat vibe to it. Please change the lyrics as you see fit or add to it.
You could come with me, I'm never far
or you could never speak with me again
either way, you'll still be here
and i'll be happy that you are.
but let me say...
When you speak to me, chills go down my bone
but I can tell, you want me out of your life
either way, never fear
I will leave you alone
(I don't have a chorus yet)

An American Man
i heard of a person, an american man
who perjured himself like anyone can
and he said to himself i'm oh so shameful
and then the worst of it was that he didn't respond
for he'd broken his word and his word is his bond
and he thought to himself i'm oh so shameful
and i heard from a friend that he once played bar
and that no one had come to hear his guitar
just two girls, two girls at a table
and both of them smiled and clapped through his set
and when at the end he learned they were deaf
he said to himself, i'm oh so shameful
and we're the same he and me, we serve the same lord
the trinity: melody, lyric and chord
and we all do our best, the best we're able
and when you screw up, like all of us can
humble yourself, you're just an american man
you're doing your best, the best you're able
and when you screw up, like all of us can
humble yourself, you're just an american man
you're doing your best, the best you're able

What is your song idea?
I feel terrible that I didn't write that song you sent me. And I feel even worse that I didn't respond to your email about it (like a year ago...). I'm sorry about that. I feel like all I do is email people all day long, and yet I'm still horrible at technology-based correspondence. Why am I not getting better at it?

Greener than Thou
words and music by rachelintrees
I've got solar panels on my roof
do you do you do you?
My water boils clean
from the suns rays my heat
you cannot beat
We're both good for the earth
but I'm better than you I'm better than you
We're both good for the earth but I'm better than you
I don't need a car
my veggies grow in my back yard
Cabbages and beets, oh
what a treat I eat
local and sweet
We're both good for the earth
but I'm better than you I'm better than you
We're both good for the earth but I'm better than you
If it's yellow I let it mellow
and if it's brown I flush it down
I've xeriscaped my yard
it isn't hard my sprouts
can stand a drought
Paper and metal organic material
I know you do your best
to recycle the goods that you use
but you'll always be second to who
guess who it's me that's right it's
me
We're both good for the earth
but I'm better than you
I'm better than you I'm better than you
What is your song idea?
A song about a self-righteous environmentalist who is perpetually "greener than thou."
